It was good to see how so much effort was put in to ensuring that Buntingford celebrated Her Majesty's amazing 70 years as our Monarch. Buntingford Town Council funded the Family Fun Day at the Seth Ward Community Centre and this was an unqualified success - our thanks to our Town Council and the organisers and stewards. Street parties were arranged at various locations in the Town with the largest one held along the High Street. Despite the poor weather, I believe a great time was had by all.

Bunting and flags were everywhere and the women of the W.I. spent hours knitting and crocheting squares which they then used to decorate the Town Pump and the railings in front of the Almshouses. Here (left), three of the W.I. members involved in the project are in the process of decorating the pump and the finished work can be seen here. Thank you ladies for a wonderful effort.

The four days of celebrations showed just how communities can come together and forget, however briefly, the trials and tribulations of daily life which for many must be getting more and more difficult.

God Save the Queen!!!
