Motoring and roads are on the agenda for this month! It would appear that the saga of Hare Street Road and the new mini roundabout is over, but what a shambles it has been! The disruption to the Town has been huge and businesses have been impacted. The culprit is apparently a Taylor Wimpey sub-contractor, whose inappropriate use of ready-mix concrete caused Hare Street Road to be dug up, with the knock-on effect to the new mini roundabout. I am sure we can all understand that mistakes happen, but the timescales to fix the issues were ridiculous.

A further motoring theme concerns careless and inconsiderate drivers. In the last couple of weeks two bollards in the High Street and a large planter at Mill Cottages in Hare Street Road have been demolished. The bollards doubtless by drivers looking to park in the High Street, rather than using the car park - but goodness knows how the planter came to its inappropriate end. More care and attention please drivers and do use the car park if shopping.

A growing concern - yes, it's motoring again - is the inconsiderate parking in the High Street which results in residents who live in mews and courtyards leading off the High Street being unable to to get in or out of their access drives. Some drivers seem to think it is okay to block the accesses while they 'pop in' to a shop for 5 or 10 minutes. It is not! I would appeal to all to show due consideration - and use the car park!!! Motoring rant over - for now!

The new bench donated by the Civic Society to replace the old one along The Causeway has now been installed. It is made of resin rather than wood so hopefully should last for many years.

I know that many people are concerned about the unkempt state of the Churchyard at the top of the Causeway. It is a difficult situation and the Civic Society along with Buntingford Town Council are working with the Reverend Ian Hill and his Parochial Church Council to find a way to ensure that the Churchyard is maintained in a manner befitting its importance to the Town
