Last month I spoke about the approach of spring but as I sit writing this article the heavens have opened accompanied by thunder and lightning. Oh well that has put paid to the tulips. The recent warm weather has seen our garden plants sprouting and they appear to be putting on a tremendous amount of growth. We are looking forward to a colourful summer but with climate change who knows what our summer will be like this year. As mentioned in last month's Journal the Roses to commemorate the life and reign of the late Queen and the accession of King Charles III have now been planted at the cemetery. They are in the flower bed adjacent to the pathway into the Churchyard.

Two members of the BCS committee along with Town Councillors, Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust and Environment Agency are part of a team putting together a plan for improvements to the River Rib from the Weir to the Luynes Rise Bridge. It is hoped these improvements will slow bank erosion. The Town Council have agreed to join with HMWT to share the cost of producing the design drawings and the scope will be shared with Society members via the Journal and Facebook when it is available. It is anticipated that these will probably be available sometime in the Summer with a view to getting grant monies to pay for the works.

By the time you read this article we will have held the AGM, for those that attended we hope you enjoyed our guest speaker, Carol Emery from the Local History Group, I have already seen her presentation, very informative and interesting. We will give a summary report on the AGM in the June issue.

Following on from the letter sent to all Chamber of Commerce members we have had offers of sponsorship for the Town Planters from various companies who operate out of Buntingford. There are still spaces left for anyone who would like to partake in this scheme.

We have been advised that the Buntingford Community Area Neighbourhood Plan (BCANP) is being reviewed as it is now 6 years old. We understand that the policies are still robust and relevant, but the narrative is being updated to identify the differences now compared with when the plan was written and made in 2017. The census data is being updated to reflect the 2021 census.

Anyway, enough for now, we hope you enjoy the spring and the lighter evenings.
