What a fabulous addition to the Town in the form of the hanging baskets along the High Street and the planters on the railings outside of the Manor House. They really do brighten up the Town - well done to Councillor Jones for obtaining the funding via EHDC/HCC and thanks to the volunteers who will ensure ongoing watering.

I do wonder at times what we have to do to get our footpaths in useable order. Photograph shows a footpath in Monks Walk - you can just about see the top of the footpath post which is probably about 2 metres high! This is a designated footpath. Why would the authorities deem it not worthy of maintenance?

The war on plastic is receiving deserving coverage both nationally and in Buntingford. It is only when you really stop to think about it that you realise how much plastic passes through your own household. Mrs B and myself have started to try to do our little bit. We have gone back to regular milk deliveries in good old glass bottles and done away with Tesco plastic containers. It might be dearer but I certainly feel better about it. Every little helps as they say.

Progress is being made on the River Rib project. The Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust (HMWT) are leading, with help from several interested residents and members of the Town Council. An initial meet in May was followed by another meeting in June. Sarah of the HMWT has come up with a draft restoration plan for the River Rib which will be actioned over the coming weeks/months.

Sadly our only Bank has closed. I think we did all we could to convince Barclays to keep it open, including petitions and an appeal from our MP Sir Oliver Heald, but it was fairly obvious from the outset that Barclays had no intention of listening to us. A sad indictment of the times we live in I am afraid.
