The London Road Active Travel Fund Scheme continues to cause much angst within the Town and social media is awash with residents' comments - mostly negative. Whilst the success or otherwise of the scheme cannot be measured until it is completed, it is probably fair to say that the disruption it has caused is greater than residents envisaged. Road closures starting at 6pm preventing people from parking outside their own homes was a particularly poor choice by the project team. Christine Noble, our Editor of the Journal for many years, has decided to move away from the area to go back to her roots in Northumberland. As such she will obviously be hanging up her Editorial duties and we are currently in the process of appointing her replacement. Christine will be a hugely difficult act to follow and I thank her for her dedicated service. We all wish her every success and happiness in her new venture. Christine leaving is forcing us to review how the journal is edited and produced/distributed in the future and we are currently looking at available options. Whatever decisions are made the journal will continue to be printed in its current format. After some seven years as Chair of the BCS I have decided to stand down. I will continue to be a Committee member but will pass the Chair baton on to someone else. I would like to take the opportunity to thank the current committee for their outstanding help and support during my tenure in the Chair.
