Coronavirus - (COVID-19). Guidance for social distancing can be found on this Government website.

Covid-19, aka Coronavirus, seems to be dominating the news and social media - probably with very good reason. It seems almost churlish to report on any other news when this virus seems to be having an increasing effect on the lives of virtually everybody. There would certainly seem to be less people out and about and the High Street is noticeably quiet. Let us hope that all of our shopkeepers and businesses can see out these current issues without too much damage to their long term businesses.

Forgive me for preaching but I feel it worthwhile re-iterating NHS advice:-

  • Wash your hands with soap and water frequently - for at least 20 seconds.
  • Always wash your hands when you get home or in to work.
  • Use hand sanitizer gel if soap and water not available.
  • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue or your sleeves (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze.
  • Put used tissues in a bin and wash hands straight away.
  • Try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell.

As a result of the current situation the Society's AGM, planned for 21st April, has been postponed and will be rescheduled when we have a better idea of the Covid-19 status.

At the moment we are still planning to run Buntingford in Bloom again this year. Judging day will be 27th June with the cut-off date for entries Monday 15th June. Further details and the entry form are available here. There will be three categories:

  • Best Front Garden
  • Best Rear Garden
  • Best Containers - these can be pots, troughs or hanging baskets.
Entry numbers last year were very poor - we would certainly hope for bigger numbers this year

I hope we can all stay safe and well in Buntingford and the surrounding villages. I wish you all well for the future and trust that I can report in a more normal manner in the very near future.
